Green Bay and Western, Fox River Valley Railroads in Color from Morning Sun Books is an all-color look at two related railroads headquartered in Green Bay, Wisconsin. Dean Freimund, a knowledgeable railroader from the area examines the historic Green Bay and Western which was a railfan favorite because of it's exotic fleet of Alco power which held out until the end in the early 1990s. The Fox River Valley railroad was a late 1980s startup over ex-Chicago and North Western lines south of Green Bay in the Fox Valley area of the state. With its ragtag fleet of cast-off CNW Geeps and some former Lake Superior and Ishpeming Alco RSD15s the fascinating, short-lived railroad was often overlooked by photographers. Both railroads had a corporate affiliation and were sold to the Wsiconsin Central in 1993. Loaded with plenty of color images and information as told by an area native and railroader, Green Bay and Western, Fox River Valley Railroads in Color is a great photographic resource for modelers and railfans.
