Our Store

RD-Hobby Modellbahnen was founded by Rainer Drexler in 2002.

We started out selling fairground models in H0 and N scale. Before long the range grew to include American model railroads and accessories, and within a short time we became Europe's leading specialist for US model railroading.

Groß-Rohrheim in southern Hesse has been our home ever since. This is where our store is – the place where customers can look at and try out every item, and get advice in person. Alongside the store, we have offered our range through our own online shop right from the start.

Today our journey no longer ends at the German or European border: RD-Hobby ships model railroads and accessories to customers all over the world.

Over more than two decades our range has grown continuously. Today we carry products from many well-known manufacturers in the USA and Canada, as well as models and accessories from a great many smaller ones.

One thing has stayed the same through all those years: our enthusiasm for American railroading, and our ambition to offer our customers an exceptionally wide choice.

For many years RD-Hobby was a fixture at the US Convention in Rodgau.

In January 2025 Sascha Drexler took over RD-Hobby from his father Rainer and now runs the business in its second generation.

Keeping what works, developing the range further and trying out new ideas at the same time – with the same passion for model railroading that started it all in 2002.
